Dear Nobody: The True Diary of Mary Rose was nothing short of amazing. It made me cry. It made me laugh. It made me mad. It made me shake my head in disbelief. It walks you through the life of a real teenager dying since the day she was born. I recommend this for everyone, for all can learn a lesson or two from Mary Rose's life. Whether it be the hardships of moving to a new town and making new friends. The tragedy of a life-threatening disease. The devastating effects of drugs and alcohol. The need of our children to feel loved, accepted and approved of. The sad reminder that if our children don't get it from home, they WILL look elsewhere, anywhere. The beauty of love, friendship and forgiveness and the hurt felt when they aren't provided. The importance of the example we, as parents, set for our teenagers. The emotional scars senseless cruelty or bullying can really cause. No matter who you are, there will be something that resonates with you on the deepest level.I knew Mary Rose when we were 13/14 years old (before she moved and wrote these diaries). Although it was a short time, she taught me valuable lessons that really helped me break out of my cocoon in high school and lessons that I still carry with me and instill in my children today. They are: never be afraid to be yourself; don't worry about what others think of you; and no matter how bad it gets, it could always be worse. Thank you to Mary Rose's family for sharing her story with us. It was an honor to know Mary Rose and through this book, I'm still learning from her today.
good book, shipped quickly at the right price
The ending was very heartfelt. I enjoyed this book read it in one sitting. Through her struggles with CF a friend of mine went through the same thing with drug abuse, he is still alive and is still fighting.
This book shocked me at some parts. I can't imagine all this girl went through having cystic fibrosis and being an addict. May she RIP.
I love all the books Legs (& mags) and Gillian have done together and separately, big fan, glad they have another hit!
such an amazing story- so moving! Mary rose has found a way to make anyone feel not so alone through her writing; you'll find a new friend through her. touching, amazing, sad it had to end...long live Mary rose always <3
